School Visits

I’m passionate about bringing stories to life and inspiring young readers and creators! My school visits are free, interactive, and tailored to student’s ages and interests. Each visit includes a lively read-aloud from one of my books, a look behind the scenes at how stories and illustrations are made, and plenty of time for students to ask questions and get creative. Whether it’s a classroom, library, or whole-school assembly, I aim to make every visit engaging, educational, and full of curiosity!

I’m currently available for in-person visits only.

Programs

The magic of mistakes

(GR K-2)

I share how mistakes, messes, and starting over are part of making picture books, using childhood drawings and real works in progress. We imagine new characters on the spot, and finish with kid-friendly Q&A (with fun backup questions if needed!).

The Art of Failure

(GR 3-5)

A deeper dive into creativity and perseverance. Students join a collaborative art demo and get time to ask thoughtful questions about the process of bringing a book to life.

What to expect

If you’re local to SoCal (San Diego, Riverside, LA, Orange County) there is no cost for my school visit! Because of this (for now) I can only accommodate 2 visits a month. Schools will be selected based on their answers to the form below. You can request to be put on a waitlist.

NorCal and out-of-state visits are $2000 (all inclusive).

Interactive Read-Aloud

I read from one of the picture books you selected from my catalog and invite students to connect with the characters, themes, and visual storytelling.

Half Day Visit

(up to 2 sessions 45-50 min each)

Behind-the-scenes peek

I share a little bit about my journey and insights into my creative process.

Interactive drawing activity

Students will be able to participate in a collaborative drawing or creative demo related to the book.

Q&A With students

Everyone has questions - and I love answering them! Students will have dedicated time to explore their curiosities about reading, writing, and creating.

*Please note that although visits are free, purchase of books by the students beforehand to be made available for a signing opportunity is encouraged!

If accepted, there will be a short contract that will be sent listing school responsibilities, outlining liability, cancellation policy, and suggested bookstore partnerships that will need to be agreed upon before a date can be scheduled!
